It’s been one heck of a journey since Star Wars hit the big screens 42 years ago and now the Skywalker saga has come to an end with Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker, I checked out the movie in RealD 3D 4DX at my local Cineworld over in Broughton.
It was an experience like no other back in 1977 when I first saw the movie that would change my life when it came to Sci-Fi, back then “Star Wars” was something that was fresh and different from what we had seen in the cinema before and who would have that that 42 years later the Skywalker saga would be finally coming to a dramatic end with the ninth movie.
After the eight previous movies, Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker had been advertised as the end of the saga, a film that would bring the Skywalker part of Star Wars to an end and ready for the new generation of Star Wars fans to get new movies etc in the Star Wars universe, but how would The Rise of Skywalker bring everything to an end, how would it deal with the story that started back in 1977!
The movie follows on from The Last Jedi, a film that got so many mixed reviews and caused a mass of, what can only best be described as, hate for the movie, personally I enjoyed it. The Rise of Skywalker brings us more family discoveries and yes there are those gaping plot holes here and there, but the movie is a non-stop rollercoaster ride of action and adventures, glorious lightsabre battles, amazing special effects and a bucket load of cameos from previous Star Wars movie cast.
John Williams Returns
Let’s not also forget the music that is a pure delight to listen to, John Williams returns to bring us a glorious soundtrack that harkens back to the days of the first movie back in 1977, keep your eyes peeled for the John Williams cameo as well.
J.J. Abrams has done a great job directing the movie, that’s my point of view, and has handled the scenes with the wonderful Carrie Fisher brilliantly, there were a few teary eyes in the screening when Carrie appeared on the screen.
For me Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker is a fitting end on the Skywalker Saga, it was said when the movie came to an end and I have to admit I had a few tears, after all, Star Wars has been part of my life since 1977 and to see it come to an end, there were a few other moments throughout the movie that I found emotional as well, such as the final scene with Carrie Fisher, but all good things have to come to an end eventually.
Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker in RealD 3D, 4DX
There was only one way that I wanted to see the final chapter in the Star Wars franchise and as I started back in 1977 with some different and exciting, I wanted to do the same in 2019 for this movie, so the only option was to see The Rise of Skywalker in RealD 3D and the immersive experience of 4DX and boy oh boy I wasn’t disappointed.
The RealD 3D in the film is superb, with so many great scenes having some depth to them such as the Millenium Falcon jumping into lightspeed, the crashed Death Star lying in ruins in the crashing ocean waves, it looked amazing, but not only that, the 4DX brought the film to life.
With the RealD 3D bringing the movie out of the screen, the 4DX brought the action to the audience, I have to say that Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker is the most active 4DX I’ve seen so far, even more so that Jumanji The Next Level, the seats must have been going into overdrive with you feeling like you were in the space battles, the water effects made you feel like you were standing in front of the huge waves, the lightning flashing, the wind passing you by on several scenes, snow and I think there were even the smells that emanated into the room for certain scenes.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker, it’s everything I hoped and seeing it in RealD 3D 4DX is a must.
