Submissions now open as The Pompeywood Film Festival Returns for 2025

The Pompeywood Film Festival returns for another year! Pompeywood is to highlight the work of independent, low or no budget, filmmakers in Portsmouth and Hampshire, the UK, and across the world. The principal focus of the festival is our short Film competition (under 17 minutes) inviting filmmakers to enter their genre film and have it screened at the event. The deadline is June 15th 2025.

On Saturday 30th August we will have a live event at the legendary Wedgewood Rooms in Southsea, Portsmouth. During the event there will be an award ceremony for the following Categories.

  • Best Horror Film
  • Best Comedy
  • Best Sci-Fi
  • Best Thriller
  • Best Local Film (Portsmouth and surrounding solents)
  • Best Actor
  • Best Story
  • Best Cinematography
  • Best Director
  • Best Animation
  • Audience Award

For this local award we will also be offering an extra prize which will be announced during the next few months.

The event will also be screening two independent feature films which will be announced after the short film competition deadline.
