Catinca Maria Nistor takes on a monumental myth-busting one-woman role as she unmasks the brutal misogyny behind male institutions in award-winning writer Carolyn Gage’s The Second Coming of Joan of Arc.  In a play where history resonates with contemporary struggles, the show opens a discussion on gender equality issues.

The performance is simple, stripped back, and devoid of backdrops and props, relying on the text and the actor to carry it. Catinca Maria Nistor has theatrical experience aplenty from productions in her homeland of Romania and seemingly takes the challenge in her stride. With a passionate performance, her own emotions and experiences are deeply woven into each line she shares.

 Committing to memory and engagingly and presenting such large swathes f dialogue is no mean feat, and the play beautifully showcases Nistor’s considerable confidence & talent. Many scenes will remain etched into my consciousness.
