Together is a short, 12 minute, film that in its short running time is a powerful piece of work about a mother of two that suffers a tragic heart attack in front of her daughters, it is shocking, but as I mentioned it is a powerful piece of work.
The 12 minute film by Abdi Warsame and Nail Adam takes place in Melaine’s (played by Victoria Biutanaseva) kitchen, but moments after starting to prepare dinner, she has a cardiac arrest.
Her seven-year old daughter Julie (played by Talei Biutanaseva) along with her four-year old sister are the only ones in the house who can save her, they try to be very brave and phone the emergency services and follow their instructions.

As all this is happening the unattended cooker becomes a nightmare and plumes of smoke start to engulf the parent and children as the fire brigade talk to them over the phone and try to help them vacate the house
Together is essentially inspired by a true story. It was written by Abdi Warsame and Nail Adam who both lost their parent to a similar event.
The crew consists of talented people including Charlie Rhymes, a musician who wrote and composed an original theme for the film titled Together. James Martin, the Director of Photography has also impressive work under his belt.
The production was lucky enough to get a real mother and her daughters to play the characters in the film.
Together is a short film that has your heart in your mouth and one which shows the roles being reversed as the child attempts to save the parents live instead of the other way round.
A public showing of the film will be going ahead in June/July 2014 and it is hoped that it will be seen in over 50 film festivals around the globe. We look forward to seeing it in full.
