Top Movies of 2021 during a year of the 2nd coming of a Pandemic!

Well what another weird year 2021 was, the pandemic continued to cause many issues to the entertainment industry, but cinemas reopened and we had the chance to forget the outside world for a while and escape to far off worlds and more, so to celebrate the world of movies, here are my Top Movies of 2021 that I have been putting together on my Letterboxd. 21 – Cruella

In 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, a young grifter named Estella is determined to make a name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets. One day, Estella’s flair for fashion catches the eye of the Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly haute. But their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her wicked side and become the raucous, fashionable and revenge-bent Cruella.

20 – The Last Duel

King Charles VI declares that Knight Jean de Carrouges settle his dispute with his squire by challenging him to a duel. The film was a little heavy going with its content, but it was nicely shot and the idea of showing the point of view from the three main characters was nicely done.

19 – Black Widow

Natasha Romanoff, also known as Black Widow, confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.

18 – In The Heights

The story of Usnavi, a bodega owner who has mixed feelings about closing his store and retiring to the Dominican Republic or staying in Washington Heights.

17 – Freaky

A mystical, ancient dagger causes a notorious serial killer to magically switch bodies with a 17-year-old girl.

16 – Last Night in Soho

A young girl, passionate about fashion design, is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s where she encounters her idol, a dazzling wannabe singer. But 1960s London is not what it seems, and time seems to be falling apart with shady consequences.

15 – Free Guy

A bank teller called Guy realizes he is a background character in an open world video game called Free City that will soon go offline.

14 – Herself

Struggling to provide her daughters with a safe, happy home, Sandra decides to build one – from scratch. Using all her ingenuity to make her ambitious dream a reality, Sandra draws together a community to lend a helping hand to build her house and ultimately recover her own sense of self.

13 – The Harder They Fall

Gunning for revenge, outlaw Nat Love saddles up with his gang to take down enemy Rufus Buck, a ruthless crime boss who just got sprung from prison.

Richard Williams serves as a coach to his daughters Venus and Serena, who will soon become two of the most legendary tennis players in history.

Sam and Tusker, partners of 20 years, are travelling across England in their old RV visiting friends, family and places from their past. Since Tusker was diagnosed with early-onset dementia two years ago, their time together is the most important thing they have. As the trip progresses, however, their ideas for the future clash, secrets come out, and their love for each other is tested as never before. Ultimately, they must confront the question of what it means to love one another in the face of Tusker’s illness.
