Some time back you may have seen the article and photos from Rhyl Beach Fest where local bands Contagious and MavMac were performing to a packed Rhyl Arena, now the two bands have rocked out in Liverpool lately and putting Rhyl on the map.
After they had been whittled down from over 1000 contestants nationally, the two local bands Contagious and MavMac, made it through to the semi final of The Big Music Project Competition.
Contagious and MavMac both performed in the North West regional final on Wednesday, to a panel of music industry judges, including Debs Wild (who discovered Cold Play) Graeme and Sarah from Capital NW & N Wales among others.
After both bands received positive feedback, their fate is now in the hands of the judges. All acts will now have to wait until January 2015 to find out if they are through to the final.

The Big Music Project Competition, powered by Next Brit Thing, is funded by The Big Lottery Fund and aims to provide future generations of musicians with the chance to learn first-hand from the music business and take steps towards a career in the industry.
The aspiring musicians performed at The Black E, Liverpool on November 19th 2014 for industry professionals, who had the task of selecting the most talented artists from more than a 130 acts across the UK.
All finalist will be competing for a spot in the national final taking place in London during Brit Week 2015 in the lead-up to one of the biggest nights in the music industry’s calendar The BRIT Awards.

The successful young people, aged 14 – 24, will be competing for top-notch prizes, including the opportunity to record at the world-famous Abby Road, the chance to perform at Classic FM Live at the Royal Albert Hall, and the unique offer to be featured on the BRIT Awards Compilation Album 2016!
The judging panel will include Producers from across the Global Radio Network, Exec and A&R’s from some of the top record labels, Programmers from the UK’s popular festivals circuit, as well as some of the UK’s most influential music editors, among others.
