Wales Comic Con 2017 Part 2 – From Gotham to Wrexham!

So despite a slight delay on the Early Bird ticket holders getting in on time and few guest cancellations at Wales Comic Con on Saturday, the weekend’s event held in Wrexham had fans from far and wide descending on Glyndwr University for two days of meets & greets, Q&As and plenty of cosplayers to keep people entertained.

The event saw guests from TV show Bones, The Walking Dead, Supernatural and more taking the time to talk to fans and sign autographs to hang in pride on their walls or add to their ever-growing collection of autograph folders.

Saturday was a very busy day at the event, with lots of people excited to see so many guests from The Walking Dead in one place and the chance to have photo opportunities with them during the weekend and despite the slight delay for the early birds, the day seemed to run smoothly. This year’s Wales Comic Con boasted the biggest guest list that it had had in years and fans were lapping it up with so many to choose from.

As with all events of this size, there are cancellations as guests can’t make the event for some reason, but there are also those surprise last-minute guests and Wales Comic Con was no exception to cancellations and additions. Thos that read Blazing Minds will have seen the article when I had the chance to photograph the amazing Brian Blessed, so imagine my excitement when I found out that Flash Gordon, Sam Jones, would be at WCC if only I could get Brian and Sam in the same place.

But it wasn’t just The Walking Dead that delighted fans during the weekend, several guests returned this year to meet and greet fans, including Corin Nemec (Supernatural, Stargate SG1), Royd Tolkien, John Challis, Mark Addy and Justin Lee Collins.

The man hall is always busy on a Saturday, but this year saw long queues for Sean Pertwee and Matt Ryan as either end of the hall hand the queues stretching from one side to the other as fans of both Gotham and Constantine were waiting for signatures, selfies and a chance to chat with the actors.

On Sunday Sean and Matt were be joined by Laura Vandervoort (Smallville, Bitten) in the William Aston Hall for the DC Q&A, fans were delighted to see all three together and although Sean did seem to get most of the questions and even got some that surprised him, this was another Q&A that was not only interesting but fun to attend.

Wales Comic Con was just guests and cosplayers, there were also some great traders at the event, some with great artwork for sale, custom T-Shirts, lots and lots of Funkopops and let’s not forget the first port of call for most attending the event in Wrexham, Find the Fudge-man!

Well done to Jaime and the team for the work they’ve put into this year’s event.
