If you’ve been reading the posts on Blazing Minds recently you will have seen us mention the Ymuno Festival in a previous article, we’ve also been tweeting about the event and spreading the word.
Not only have we been telling you all about the event, we are proud to announce that Blazing Minds will also be at the event, which we are really looking forward to being at this July.
It’s a rare and special music festival that offers a meditation on chocolate! Meanwhile back in real time the kids are being entertained by Dr Zigs giant bubbles, face painting, den building and more. Add a great line of musicians, good food, a warm, welcoming and family friendly vibe and you have the Ymuno Festival, July 1 – 4.
Nestled in the beautiful seaside hills of North Wales near Abergele, Ymuno takes its name from the Welsh word meaning ‘join together’ and this small, intimate festival promises just that. While a great line- up of musicians may tempt you to a festival, it is the connections and experiences that stay with you long after the last bars of music have drifted off on the summer breeze.
Ymuno More Than Just A Music Event
More than just the music Ymuno has developed a packed activity program for young folk (and young at heart) that is free to access and with the kids amused the adults get to have fun too! Focusing on activities that encourage learning through a variety of different ways ensures there is something for everyone.
Junk will be recycled into instruments for the Sunday evening parade, Inamojo Storydance will use music and stories with mindful practices to nurture creativity and imagination through play, North Wales Natural Building Centre will be building a mini oak timber frame building with the kids on-site using traditional methods and natural resources.
Contemporary circus and arts company Syrcas Cimera will bring an aerial rig and be teaching trapeze and silks to all ages, more activities such as pottery, star gazing and opportunities to learn about local wildlife and ecology are listed on the website.
You don’t need to leave the baby at home for this festival either with the NCT baby changing and feeding tent on hand and a baby bath time activity planned, and it’s not just for the kids, families can join together for Laughing Yoga and poetry writing while adults can explore their creative bent with jewellery making or be inspired by an eclectic range of speakers on topics as diverse as the early punk scene in Wales and permaculture gardening through to Peruvian ceremonial chocolate making (chocolate as meditation, ah!) and sculpture from recycling.
Now if you get easily overwhelmed by the creativity and need inspiration there will be mini-market featuring gorgeous handcrafted wares from local craftspeople.
And as if this wasn’t enough let’s not forget the music! This year promises another great line-up of local and invited national and international musicians including K.O.G & the Zongo Brigade, Sorceress, The Turbans, Renegade Brass Band, The Impellers, Denuo, Hannah Scott, William the Conqueror and more.
So whether it’s gathering in the sleepy meadow for a complimentary breakfast as the sun rises, dancing under the stars or taking part in one of the fantastic workshops on offer it’s easy to feel part of the Ymuno community, see you there.
