Some of you may have seen the tweets go out on Sunday about a Charity Bike Ride, not that many as I would have liked but I was riding a bicycle at the time and tweeting and riding at the same time is rather dangerous.
Now I have to admit that it had been a while since I had been on my trusty mountain bike so it was going to be a little bit of a challenge, but it wasn’t really a long distance to ride, well not for everyone.
We all met up at The Mayquay in Kinmel Bay at around 10am and got sorted for the ride to Pensarn, but another section of the group was hoping all the way to Conway, now believe me when I say that’s one heck of a distance to ride, I certainly couldn’t have done it.
But a big congratulations to the group that did it, they had a lot of stamina to go that far and back in the time that they did it.
So back to our group, as I mentioned earlier we cycled to Pensarn, where after something to eat and a drink, it was time to play some games on the beach, I tell you what it was like being kid at the seaside all over again, it was so much fun.
We split in to two teams and played a game filling buckets with water via small cups, by passing the cups down a line and then the last one to put the water in the bucket would run down to the front and everyone would move up one.
After playing games, it was time to start the return ride back, as on the way to Pensarn, we all travelled back at out own pace, not racing, just taking in the beautiful weather that we had. The day was so nice that there seemed to be lots of cyclists out on the cycle path and the majority were very polite with greetings as we cycled past each other.
The Charity Bike Ride was finished with a raffle in the Derwyn pub, where several prizes that had been donated were raffled off to raise more money for the day, sadly I couldn’t make the evening, but from what I’ve heard everyone had loads of fun.
So to finish this little article a shout out has to go to Steve Evans who arranged the day, I think everyone who took part on the day would agree with me that Steve did an outstanding job organizing the day’s event.
And Finally!
Yes folks this is the section where I tell you how wads raised on the Charity Bike Ride, well folks, I was talking to Steve at the radio studio last night and the current running total, as from last night, is around £450 with more money coming in from those that got themselves sponsored.
Now isn’t that amazing news. I’m looking forward to doing more charity events with Steve in the very near future and if events can raise loads of money for charities than the more the better.
