When you are a fan of The Mighty Boosh and you find out that Noel Fielding is coming to Venue Cymru which is only up the road, how can you not go and spend and evening with the man himself.
So the time came last night for a magical mix of Noel’s unique brand of stand up comedy, live animation, music and the show even included some of Noel Fielding’s best known TV characters (such as The Moon and Fantasy Man).
Noel Fielding’s comedy has seen him performing in venues all over the world (such as The Royal Albert Hall, The Sydney Opera House and Radio City Music Hall) win numerous awards (including Perrier Best Newcomer, The Barry Humphries Award at The Melbourne Comedy Festival and The Douglas Adams Award for innovative writing) and appear on TV shows such as Michael Mcintyre’s Roadshow, Big Fat Quiz Of The Year and QI.
From the start of the show, I knew I was in for a ride of comedy and strange goings on, but why shouldn’t it be any different, the show did come from the mind of one of the members of The Mighty Boosh and we know how surreal and crazy that was, so anything could happen during the evening and believe me it did!
So not only did a nice bright moon shine in the sky on the way to the Venue Cymru in Llandudno, but The Moon introduced Noel Fielding to us at the start of the show and what a start it was, with Noel delivering his unique style of crazy humour to a packed theatre.
Fielding may be an acquired taste for some, but for myself being one that loves The Mighty Boosh, this was going to be a night of me laughing and participating with theatre goers.
Several of the characters that we know from Noel Fielding’s crazy mind were brought to the stage, not only did we have The Moon, but also The Dark Side of The Moon, with some great interaction between. It and Fielding.
Not only is the show stand up, but it also brought in the world of Noel Fielding’s bizarre sketches with the Plasticine world of Joey Ramone, with some rather hysterical moments from the audience participating in a kind of Jackanory moment.

Mike Fielding certainly had me in stitches as Hawkeye and later as Noel’s wife who he’d caught cheating with a triangle, yes you read that right, I said triangle, remember we are talking about the world of Fielding here folks.
One of my favourite characters is Sergeant Raymond Boombox and we were granted his presence in the second half of the show after it was discovered that Noel had been kidnapped, so assisted by Hawkeye and a video camera they came into the audience to question unsuspecting audience members and yes they were filmed and put on a big screen for everyone to see!
With the inclusion of Fantasy Man, Big Chief Whoolabum Boomalackaway (Tom Meeton) and Steve from the audience they attempted to save Noel.
I have to say it’s been a while since I’ve laughed so hard on a night out, Noel Fielding’s humour is quite strange and at sometimes completely bonkers, but it certainly had the audience loving every moment, it was a shame that more people didn’t dress up as their favourite characters, something that audiences in other venues have done more.
But hey we were all there to enter in to a fantasy world, to get away from our mundane days and just have a crazy night of laughter and loads of fun and Fielding certainly managed to give us all a brilliant night.
My only quibble was no Naboo or Bolo, but hey that’s a small sacrifice for the fun evening with Noel Fielding at Venue Cymru and for me on a personal level, I really hope that Noel brings his show back to Llandudno as I would love to see more.
So thank you Noel and Venue Cymru, you have certainly given my chuckle muscles the workout that they have been long over due.
