Since the announcement of the cast of Star Wars and the return of many actors reprising their roles, fans of Harrison Ford and the Indiana Jones franchise have been asking the big question recently.
“Will Harrison Ford be replaced with a new actor in the role of Indiana Jones?”
We have pondered on that very question as well, but earlier today the producer of the Indiana Jones movies confirmed that Ford will not be replaced.
“we are not doing the Bond thing where we’re going to call somebody else Indiana Jones” – Frank Marshall
Phew what a relief, what would the franchise be without Harrison Ford in the main role, it would be like having Star Wars without Han Solo (oh wait, hang on a minute).
There have been hints from Steven Spielberg that Chris Pratt (Jurassic World, Guardians of the Galaxy) was in some way connection to the franchise.
Let’s just hope we aren’t going down another prequel road, not sure what’s worse, prequels or reboots!
“There are a lot of rumours. We haven’t even sat down to talk about Indy yet … At some point we’ll sit down. But there’s a bunch of people who could probably take the baton.” – Marshall told Total Film
Remember Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull back in 2008? Probably not the best movie in the series and one which we saw Shia LeBeouf with a possibility of taking over the whip, thankfully not though.
So for the time being, not much is happening with what will/could be the 5th outing for Indiana Jones, we’re hoping that Harrison Ford will be back, even if it’s for one last crack of the whip.
Walt Disney Studios became the distributor of possible upcoming Indiana Jones films after its parent company’s acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012, so anything could happen after the release of the much-anticipated next episode of Star Wars.
But for the time being all attention is now on him for Star Wars: The Force Awakens as he straps on the Blaster and kicks in the hyperdrive for an IMAX 3D ride in the Millennium Falcon.
