So the other night I was invited to the 4DX Gala Evening at Cineworld in Broughton for an introduction to the new 4DX that has only just opened and the film show was the new Charlie’s Angles to show of the immersion into the world of 4DX.
Elizabeth Banks take on the director’s chair for this reboot of the popular 80s TV show and the two movies, well when I say reboot it does have moments when it connects to the TV show in the late 70s and the films, so that’s a nice touch. Banks also stars in the movie as Bosley, which we discover is a rank and not just a name.
Welcome to the world of kick-ass woman that have the art of not only seduction but also the skills in weaponry and hand to hand combat, these Angles now how to handle themselves and when a systems engineer blows the whistle on a dangerous technology that can be made into a weapon, Charlie’s Angels from across the globe are called into action, putting their lives on the line to protect the world.
Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska are the next generations of Angles and along with Bosley they are ready to save the world, but can they do it and save the day!
I remember watching Charlie’s Angels as a kid and it was part of my growing up with TV show, it was always over the top but the mystery of Charlie and what they would get up to each week always had me tuning in each week, then we had the movies in 2000 and 2003 with Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Lou, for me the movies were a bit of a send-up of the TV show.
The 2019 version of Charlie’s Angles, is certainly more of an all-out action movie with some great stunts and throw in the mix of the 4DX and you are really on a rollercoaster ride of a film, being thrown around in your seats and more, but when it comes down to the film, I have to say that do prefer the other films, maybe that’s what I’ve got used to, I’m not saying the film is really bad, by all means, it has some great comedic moments spread thinly through the film.
But for me the main selling point of the movie was seeing it in 4DX, the added fun of the 4DX experience made the film much more fun.
