Down on his luck, William outsources his end to Leslie, an ageing assassin with a good heart but a shaky gun-hand in new dark action comedy Dead in a Week.
Aneurin Barnard (Dunkirk) leads a strong British cast, including Award Award nominee and BAFTA nominee respectively, Tom Wilkinson (RocknRolla, Batman Begins) and Christopher Eccleston (Dr. Who, Thor: Dark World).

Could life get any worse for William (Aneurin Barnard), after seven unsuccessful suicide attempts? With nothing going right for him William decides to outsource the task of ending his miserable existence to Leslie (Tom Wilkinson), an ageing hitman on the brink of retirement.
But with the contract signed and death assured within a week (or his money back) William finally discovers a reason to live. However, as far as Leslie is concerned, the contract is binding…

The pure brilliance of Dead in a Week is the film never really takes the idea of an assassin being paid to kill their client too seriously and the dark humour isn’t an all-out laugh-fest, but it works on the darker side of humour.
As things go along Leslie’s attempts on William become a little harder than he first thought and he starts to doubt himself in his profession and even worse his boss, Christopher Eccleston, is also considering that it’s time that Leslie retires from the only life he knows!

Sometimes it can be hard to deal with the subject matter of mental illness and with William suffering from extreme depression that puts him on the path to contact Leslie, it’s hard to consider it being funny, but Dead in a Week plays on the matter in a light-hearted way that doesn’t play it down, but instead, brings a lighter look with the inept attempts of both William and Leslie to add the comedy elements to the film.
The film is fun to watch, it has a great cast to carry it along and flows nicely from scene to scene, certainly worth a watch.
