Three patients escape from an experimental facility, what will happen to the world around them?
In a new exclusive interview on Blazing Minds, I got the chance to ask Producer Bill Ross a few questions about Magenta House, which will have its World Premiere at The Horror-on-Sea Film Festival on Sunday, 25th January at 09:30hrs.
Q. You Produced Magenta House which has been selected to play at the Horror-on-Sea Film Festival. Can you tell us what we can expect from the film?
A. Expect a twisted tale of escapism and terror in the search for the truth about the Magenta House facility and its patients.
Q. In addition to producing you also did some second unit directing What were your inspirations when directing the second unit?
A. We were lucky to be entirely on location for the second unit and also entirely dialogue free, so it allowed us to rely on facial expressions and make up
Q. What were some of the influences for the look and style of the film?
A. A lot of the film is inspired by the works of the late great David Lynch but also slashers of the 80’s and more modern psychological thrillers
Q. What were some of your favourite moments during filming?
A. I loved working with our incredibly talented cast, crew and directors across the whole filming process but favourite days where our two days shooting the sequences in the car guerrilla style in an underground car park!
Q. Did you experience any issues during filming?
A. One of our sequences required a sugar cane bottle to smash but we couldn’t source one, so we had to use a plastic wine glass from a cinema!
Q. What makes Magenta House stand out as something different in the horror genre?
A. It’s mix of horror sub genres across the three segments and its faithful blend of them from fellow fans of horror
Q. What do you hope people take away after watching the film?
A. That we made this film as university students during our second year with no prior experience and no budget and yet here we are at Horror-on-Sea! It shows anything is possible if you put your mind to it! (and if you have an amazing crew behind you!)
Q. Do you have any other projects which you are currently working on?
A. I am currently working on The Next Wave, a documentary about the making of Magenta House that will be out later this year!
Q. If someone was looking to direct their own film what advice would you give them?
A. Just go for it! Use the resources you have access to and try to make the best product you can!
