Sci Fi Weekender 5 announces first star guests including Rene Auberjonois & Ethan Phillips. (March 28th/29th)

Hello my wonderful readers and Sci Fi Weekender fans, I’ve got some fantastic exclusive news for you as I’ve been given some announcement of some of the guests that are already confirmed for 2014.

I’m so pleased to bring the list of some of the Sci Fi stars that will be not only greeting fans, but will also hitting the stage for Q&As for fans to get their questions over to them in the main hall and so much more for a massive fun filled weekend.

So who is going to be at Sci Fi Weekender 5

Well my humble readers let me tell you all about them, now this is the confirmed so far list, I will be bringing you further updates as I get the news on the confirmed guests.

Already confirmed is Rene Auberjonois who aside from his roles as Odo in Star Trek Deep Space Nine has also appeared in Tim Burton’s Batman Forever as Dr. Burton, a mental asylum doctor.

But did you also know that Rene is an all-round acting legend, having also being best known for main parts in MASH the movie, Benson the TV Series and Boston Legal. He has also made a number of Sci Fi TV Cameos in everything from The Outer Limits, The Bionic Woman, Stargate SG-1, Star Trek: Enterprise and was also a regular character in Wonder Woman.

Ethan Phillips Guest For Sci Fi Weekender 5

Joining Rene at next Spring’s Sci Fi Weekender 5 is Ethan Phillips who while being best known as being Star Trek: Voyager’s Neelix has also appeared in many films including the 1994 Russell Mulcahy Film The Shadow, Critters (1986) and The Island (2005)

In 1990, he began his prolific Star Trek career playing the Ferengi character of Dr. Farek in Star Trek: The Next Generation (episode “Ménage à Troi”)Phillips then went on to play Neelix on Star Trek: Voyager from 1995 to 2001.

Phillips stayed with the series through its entire seven-season run, and also performed a cameo as the holographic nightclub maître d’ in the 1996 film, Star Trek: First Contact. Phillips also appeared as a Ferengi pirate captain on an episode of Star Trek: Enterprise.

Ethan Phillips has not only performed on three separate series in the Star Trek TV universe (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: Enterprise), he has also appeared in one of the feature length films (Star Trek: First Contact), and performed in the Star Trek Internet fan film titled Of Gods and Men which starred several of the original series Star Trek cast.

Also joining the Sci Fi Weekender is award winning English actor Stephen Greif best known amongst Sci Fi fans for his role as the ruthless federation officer, Travis in the first series of Blake’s 7. Stephen also acted and cameoed in the 2007 Doctor Who: The Infinite Quest as Gurney. Outside of Sci Fi Stepehen Greeif has more credits than Barclays, having appeared in everything from Coronation Street and Eastenders through to Waking the Dead and Silent Witness.

Next up and joining the line-up, we are proud to welcome Simon Fisher-Becker whose notable roles include The Fat Friar in the Harry Potter film Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and Dorium Maldovar in series 5 and 6 of Doctor Who.
In 2012 Simon also joined the ever growing cast of Doctor Who: Second Life.

The production was created by fans and lovers of Doctor Who. It remains non-for-profit and for fans. Simon kindly agreed to voice a character simply known as “Time Lord in White” in the first episode of “Secrets of Earth”. His scene is only a few mins, but it has become popular in fan circles as a number of people ask him about the role.

Also adding an element of educational comedy to the daytime proceedings we welcome back, Zombie Science: Worst Case Scenario Zombie Science – with a new spoof tutorial on the real science behind a disease outbreak. Join Theoretical Zombiologist Doctor Austin as he puts you at the heart of a hypothetical Zombieism epidemic, and teaches you what to do when a Zombie outbreak occurs. Featuring a multi-media presentation and interactive demonstrations, the outcome of the outbreak is down to you; with multiple endings depending on how you decide to deal with the Zombies.

Next up and bringing a musical flavour to the March Festivities are Darth Elvis & The Imperials, a Star Wars themed Elvis tribute band from Viva Mos Eisley. The bands biog reads “In 1977 Elvis didn’t die he turned to the Darkside of the Force and ever since he has been playing music venues around the Outer Rim Territory. The time has come for the Dark King of the Sith & his band of Imperials to return to the Galaxy where he is best known.”

The band performed for the first time at the Official Star Wars convention Celebration Europe back in 2007 and have been thrilling audiences ever since with their unique mixture of rock n roll, comedy & outlandish performances.

And finally, yes the rumours are true: Robert Rankin is back by popular demand. The best-selling novelist, and wife Rachel, will be back to present many of the Q&A panels at the 2014 event, which is guaranteed to add another huge element of entertainment to the weekend.

Where and When Is Sci Fi Weekender Taking Place?

The event takes place at Hafan y Môr Holiday Park, Pwllheli, North Wales next March 28th/29th 2014.

Of course Blazing Minds will be there bringing you some exclusive picture, interviews and loads more live from Pwllheli, we had so much fun last year, how could we not resist going back for more for a Sci Fi Weekender Geek Out!!
