Extraction is the latest movie from Netflix starring Chris Hemsworth.
A black-market mercenary who has nothing to lose is hired to rescue the kidnapped son of an imprisoned international crime lord. But in the murky underworld of weapons dealers and drug traffickers, an already deadly mission approaches the impossible.
Extraction is full of action from the outset, the movie begins when the boy child of a drug lord (Rudhraksh Jaiswal) is kidnapped and a bunch of black-market mercenaries are hired to rescue him but the mission is anything but straight forward.
Extraction is directed by Sam Hargrave (in his feature debut) and is based on a graphic novel “Ciudad” written by Ande Parks. Ande Parks has also worked with a lot of comic books throughout the years, most recently with Marvel and DC comics.
The screenplay is by Ande Parks and the Russo brother’s, Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, who both directed and was producers on Marvel movies Avengers: Endgame, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Avengers: Infinity Wars.
The one camera shots are spectacular in Extraction and some of the action scenes reminded me of the movie 1917. Most of it was shot using one camera motion following Hemsworth as he dodged bullets and ducked in and out of buildings.
Amazingly shot and if you love movies that have action and gore then you will definitely like this. The one-shot camera is a lot like those used in 1917, there are several scenes with some gore as in any Rambo movie, Extraction is highly charged and guaranteed to satisfy all fans of the action.
It is not for the lighthearted, however. But if you enjoy a movie with a lot of gore then you will enjoy this. Rudhraksh Jaiswal is fantastic as the kidnapped son of a drug lord. He is known for his roles in Bollywood movies and in Indian tv series.
The movie also features David Harbour, know best as Jim Hopper from the Netflix series Stranger Things.
Chris Hemsworth shows us that he has found his genre in this highly charged, adrenaline-pumping action movie. He may have hanged up his hammer, but still got what it takes when it comes to a mission.
