Game of Thrones – Win or Die Monopoly Style! – Review

Game of Thrones Monopoly

With Game of Thrones back on Sky Atlantic for its sixth season, we thought we would celebrate the return of the award-winning show with a review, but a review with a difference.

We have a review of the Monopoly version of Game of Thrones, it gives you the chance to fight your way across a Game of Thrones themed Monopoly board to sit atop the Iron Throne!

Before I start, I have to say that I’m a big fan of both Monopoly and Game of Thrones so to have the two combined is brilliant, not only now can I play a board game that has had our family sitting for days buying and selling properties in London, we can now move to the realms of Game of Thrones and fight to sit on the Iron Throne.

Game of Thrones – Let Battle Commence!

Monopoly is a very popular game and most of know how to play the board game, the Game of Thrones Collectors Edition doesn’t differ that much is the game play of the original game, the difference here is the locations around the board are based on the long running TV series.

The six player tokens have also changed from the standard ones, such as the Iron, Top Hot and Racing Car etc. Now the tokens, which are very well made die-cast, are based on the show.

Travel spaces in the game have now become the Houses Barathen, Targaryen, Stark and Lannister, with the utility squares changed to The Wall and the Red Waste. The Houses and Hotels have also changed to Villages and Keeps, just so everything falls in nicely with the world of Game of Thrones.

The board is of good quality and comes in a small folded square that opens out to the full size playing board, the box has the slots for the money and for the title deeds for the locations that the players will be hoping to buy as they travel around the Game of Thrones board.

This version of Monopoly still has all the fun of the original board game but with that added twist, I’m not sure if it was just us when we were all playing the game, but we all certainly had that feeling of wanting decimate each other for a chance to take the Iron Throne, you can certainly see who is a fan of which house in the TV show, specially when they are aiming to get key locations.

At the end of the day it is still Monopoly, so if you are a fan of the game and also love Game of Thrones then this is certainly a board game you will enjoy playing, the game is available from winningmoves.co.uk, check it out for yourselves.

Happy gaming.
