Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth are set to star in “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” a highly-anticipated film by Academy Award-winning director George Miller. This movie marks the return to the iconic dystopian world that Miller first created over 40 years ago with the groundbreaking “Mad Max” films. “Furiosa” will delve into the origins of the powerful character from the critically acclaimed “Mad Max: Fury Road.” Produced by George Miller and Doug Mitchell under their Australian-based Kennedy Miller Mitchell banner, this standalone action adventure is set to captivate audiences worldwide.
In a post-apocalyptic world, young Furiosa is taken from her home, the Green Place of Many Mothers, and captured by a powerful group of bikers led by the Warlord Dementus. As they travel through the Wasteland, they encounter the Citadel ruled by The Immortan Joe. While the two leaders fight for control, Furiosa faces numerous challenges as she tries to gather resources and allies to make her way back home.
Taylor-Joy stars in the title role, and along with Hemsworth, the film also stars Tom Burke and Alyla Browne.
It’s hard to think it’s been almost 10 years since the last Mad Max movie. Although Furiosa doesn’t have Tom Hardy in the film (or does it), Miller has brought us another exciting chapter on the Mad Max franchise with this prequel that takes us on the journey of Furiosa which was previously portrayed by Charlize Theron and now by the brilliant Anya Taylor-Joy.
The film introduces us to the green land that was mentioned in Fury Road and we see how lush and wonderful it looks before a young Furiosa (Alyla Browne) is taken and delivered to Dementus played brilliantly by Chris Hemsworth. Now the story is set for the rise of Furiosa and the journey to the character that was introduced to us back in 2015.
I found myself on the edge of my seat for most of Furiosa and although it’s not one big chase which Fury Road seemed to be, it still keeps you entertained throughout the 2h 28m runtime. Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth are the key to the entertainment in this film. They both shine throughout, especially Hemsworth who brings Dementus to life on the screen with so much love for the character and how he portrays him.
Anya Taylor-Joy is great as Furiosa and she is great to watch on the big screen as she builds up towards the character we know from Mad Max: Fury Road, although she doesn’t say much for much of the film she doesn’t need to as she has taken the younger version of Furiosa and made her much her own for this film in the Mad Max franchise.
There is plenty of action to keep action fans entertained and on the edge of their seat from start to finish, we see the return of several characters including The Immortan Joe (this time played by Lachy Hulme), The People Eater (John Howard), Rictus Erectus (Nathan Jones) and a couple more which makes the film feel more familiar.
The cinematography in Furiosa looks amazing with the colour palettes bringing out the feel of the hot arid, wastelands and the lushness of the green at the start of the film, the sound mix sounds amazing in the cinema with the surround sound using all the speakers to effect with the rears giving you the full depth of sound and the bass pounding with the sound of the engines revving up.
Talking of the sound, the soundtrack for Furiosa is superb and the music by Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) is stunning, Holkenborg has certainly brought the feel of a Mad Max film with him again since Fury Road and it was a pure joy to listen to and it added a great feel to the film.
Does Fursiosa: A Mad Max Saga Have a Post Credit Scene?
The ending of the prequel set in a post-apocalyptic world mostly includes reused footage from the 2015 movie Mad Max: Fury Road, shown during the credits. The only new footage is a quick shot at the very end, featuring a bird-skull bobblehead that belongs to Nux, a sickly War Boy from Fury Road.

Summary
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is a fitting addition to the franchise and ties in nicely with the rebooted Mad Max, it will be interesting to see where the franchise goes from here and if we will get Mad Max: Wasteland soon.
