Sci Fi Weekender 5 announces Graham McTavish, The Festival of the Spoken Nerd, Lewis McCleod, Glen Fabry, Simon Bisley, Pat Sharp, and classic rock pioneers “Attica Rage”…all at Hafan y Mor on March 27th-30th.
Sci Fi Weekender, The UK’s largest Sci Fi Festival, continues to add more talent to an already stunning multi arena line up. Now in its 5th cycle, SFW has witnessed a steady flow of talent and Sci Fi dignitaries grace its stages over the last few years and is no stranger to national TV.
This multi arena event which is packed with big name guests, interviews, panels, movie screenings, comic workshops, video gaming, music, book readings plus the legendary evening entertainment is just about to stage its biggest ever production, which is now down to its last handful of units and very close to where you live.
Graham McTavish aka The Hobbits Dwalin & Red Dwarfs Warden Ackerman will be joining the list of Star Guests attending next year’s Fifth edition of the Sci Fi weekender. McTavish is best known for the above two roles but he also appeared as Desmond’s drill sergeant in the Fourth season of Lost, as well as appearances in the 1998 film Merlin and the recent horror film The Wicker Tree.
Joining McTavish and fresh from a UK sell-out, comedy phenomenon Festival of the Spoken Nerd will feed your brain, tickle your ribs and light your Bunsen burner with a show for the insatiably sci-curious.
Whether you loved or loathed the school science lab, Stand-up mathematician Matt Parker (BBC2 Things You Need To Know) and experiments maestro Steve Mould (ITV1 I Never Knew That About Britain) mix astonishing science with statistically significant comedy – and maybe a few things that go BANG!
Lewis Macleod a hugely successful voice over actor & no stranger to a multitude of roles in numerous epic releases such as Sebulba in Star Wars, The Phantom Menace as well as several Star Wars video games.
He also voiced Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (video game). He is also a mimic, with a voice range including Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Christopher Walken, Gordon Brown and George Galloway.
Moving into the Comic Zone, Glenn Fabry is an Eisner Award-winning British comics artist known for his detailed, realistic work in both ink and painted colour, and is best known for his work on 2000AD’s Slaine
Simon Bisley is a British comic artist best known for his 1990s work on ABC Warriors, Lobo and Sláine. His style, reliant on paints, acrylics, inks and multiple-mediums, is strongly influenced by Frank Frazetta, Bill Sienkiewicz, Gustav Klimt, Salvador Dalí, Egon Schiele, and Richard Corben. He also took inspiration from rock album covers and graffiti as well as traditional comics art. In turn he and his work has inspired various forms in media, including the Beast in the 2006 Doctor Who episode “The Satan Pit“, and Simon Pegg’s character graphic artist Tim Bisley on the Channel 4 sitcom Spaced.
Pat Sharp is a British radio and television presenter and DJ. In the UK, he is known mainly for his work on the children’s television programme ‘Fun House’, his former mullet and his radio shows as well as his support of Arsenal. In Europe, he was known in the 1980s as one of the Sky Channel‘s VJs and for presenting Coca-Cola Eurochart Top 50 and Nescafe UK Top 50 not to mention his ordeal in…I’m a celebrity get me out of here…. Pat will be hosting the Saturday night Masquerade ball at SFW5.
ATTICA RAGE are one of the most promising heavy rock bands in recent years. They are currently promoting their critically-acclaimed third album ’88 MPHwith a new album planned for release later this year & a UK & European tour dates. The band will be performing a “Classic Rock Anthems” set on the Friday night in the main void
SFW 5 takes place at Hafan y Môr Holiday Park, Pwllheli, North Wales next March 28th /29th 2014.
