This Means War – Blazing Minds Film Review
You can always tell a film directed by McG and this one is no exception, the start of the film opens with a McG action sequence kind akin to an action sequence from Charlie’s angels, with plenty of action and quick cuts.
But that’s not a bad thing it’s a great introduction to Tuck and FDR showing what these guys are capable of doing with all their CIA training and what they will go through to get the girl.
This opening sequence also builds on the slight back story that occasionally reappears during the film, but not very often, at one point I forgot all about it.
So here we have Tuck (Tom Hardy) and FDR (Chris Pine) accidentally dating the same girl (Reece Witherspoon) and “gentlemanly pact” is made between the two of them not to get involved with each others attempts for heart affections, yeah right, like that’s ever going to happen.
What really stood out for me with This Means War was the fact that Tom Hardy has kept his British accent for the film, none of this trying to put on an American accent for him and though it’s a completely different character from when he was in [amazon_link id=”B001TEKJW0″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Bronson[/amazon_link], you still seem to pick up on an unnerving side of him or his character.
There are some laughs in the film and particular when Lauren (Reece Witherspoon) is talking to her friend Trish (Chelsea Handler) and coming up with strange advice, which certainly brings in the comedic moments.
The action sequences are well done and the chemistry between Tuck and FDR as friends is nicely done as are the comical moments when the pair are listening in on the conversations between Lauren and Trish and then trying to change their faults to try to win Lauren’s affections.
Overall This Means Wars is a fun film, if you’re looking to take your date to a romantic film, but you want an action movie then there’s both here,  though I do have to say that the film is 12A and though kids under twelve can go in with an adult, I would take them, a few rather risqué sexual scenes are not really suitable, the same goes for some of the stuff that Trish comes out with!
