UK Thriller Break heads to DVD and Digital this month

BREAK Films and Scanner-Rhodes Productions are proud to announce the British independent thriller BREAK will be out on DVD on 31st August and available in Asda, Morrison, HMV and Amazon with digital download via iTunes, Sky Box Office and Virgin.

BREAK written and directed by Michael Elkin, stars Sam Gittins, Luke Mably, Terri Dwyer, David Yip, Jamie Foreman, Adam Deacon and the late Rutger Hauer in his final role.

The film held a much publicised, star-studded World Premiere last month in London and was the first ever UK premiere to be held at a Drive-In. With sound beamed into cars via FM transmission and food delivered to your car, the Drive-In concept fulfilled all safety criteria in these troubled times, and provided an immersive and entertaining evening for all.

BREAK is also currently on tour across the country and will have multiple screenings atvarious Dive In locations, for more information please go to www.breakfilms.co.uk.

Filmed in Sheffield’s world famous Crucible Theatre, London and Beijing, this life affirming rags-to-riches story follows the troubled but talented Spencer Pryde (Sam Gittins) a gifted, inner-city kid, wasting his life on petty crime and violence, until a chance encounter with Chinese stranger and former ‘eight ball’ pool champion, Vince Qiang (David Yip) and tough
guy club owner Ray (Rutger Hauer) presents him with the opportunity to turn his life around.

When tragedy strikes, Spencer finally breaks away from his so-called friends and all the negative influences of his life – which include the UK’s current issues with drugs, violence and knife crime – but with Qiang’s guidance Spencer makes a bid for a prestigious snooker tournament held in Beijing…but can he overcome his demons and use the talents he was
blessed with?

The film also features appearances by British snooker star Jack Lisowski, Chinese sensation Liang Wenbo and World Snooker Champion Ken Doherty. The film was made with the support of World Snooker and Matchroom and coincides with Sheffield’s 2020 World Snooker Championship.

Dean Fisher is the producer alongside actress/producer Terri Dwyer.

BREAK was due to be released in April, but due to Covid-19 this was pushed back. Producer and actress Terri Dwyer said: “Being an independent film, we were hugely effected by Covid-19. After a hugely successful premiere we have been touring across the UK at other Drive-In venues. We are now delighted to be able to release BREAK on DVD and digital download for anyone who wasn’t able to attend our Drive-Ins so you can now watch it in the comfort of your own home.
