It was a trip over to Venue Cymru in Llandudno today to check out the indoor Ice Rink, yes an indoor Ice Rink in the summer!

It’s not as mad as it sounds, with this weekend expecting to be a heatwave here on the North Wales coast, what better way to chill than skating away a couple of hours.

The ice rink at Venue Cymru opened today, a little later than planned as there is a lot of ice to lay down. The arena that is being used for the rink is the one that is used for gigs and the SciFi Wales event that is next month, with a capacity of around 2,000 the arena is perfectly suited for the ice rink and it certainly looks at home.

So I arrived just after 2pm and was met by Anwen and had a chat about the venue and the ice rink, I then popped off to get some photos of the ice rink and of the people enjoying gliding along the ice.

Venue Cymru on Ice - A Helpful Penguin

I have to say it was great to see all ages having fun on the ice, yes it’s real ice, nothing artificial. You can feel the drop in temperature as you walk in the arena. As I was saying all ages were having fun on the ice and for the younger ones that may not be sure of themselves on the ice, there are penguins that they can grab on to, to help guide them along the slippery surface.

Live at Venue Cymru Ice Rink

Now this was a first for me, I hooked up to the WiFi and did my first Facebook Live broadcast which you can find over on the Blazing Minds Facebook page, it’s not brilliant, but it shows everyone gliding around.

I also did a live post out on Twitter as well, have to test these things out folks lol.
