In this current age of loving to see movies on the big screen with the news that Cineworld has closed their cinemas, we were delighted when BenQ sent us over the BenQ W2700 to check out, now this is something that is a great piece of tech to check out for a film fan.
For those of you that love films, having a projector is probably the closest you can get to having your own personal cinema at home and unlike the BenQ W1050 the W2700 model takes it a step further and bring true 4K HDR (High Dynamic Range) to your wall.

First of all, the W2700 features a skillfully constructed pure 4K-optimized optical system for ultimate image precision and colour accuracy without artefacts that can plague LCD projectors. Using DLP UHD technology, it confidently produces 8.3 million distinct pixels for true 4K UHD performance fully complying with the 4K UHD Standard set by the Consumer Technology Association’s (CTA), while some others can only display 4.1 million pixels on the screen with the claim of a “4K enhancement”.
How to connect up the W2700
You are really spoilt for choice when it comes to connecting up the projector to your source, connecting up your Blu-ray player, Laptop, Amazon Fire Stick or even via a flash drive is easy with the number of connection options on the back of the unit and if your Blu-ray player is capable of playing 3D blu-ray and you do have some 3D movies in your collection then this little beauty can play those back as well by using passive 3D, the same system that RealD 3D use in the cinemas, so if you haven’t got a 3D TV, which let’s face it are like space dust these days as they don’t make them anymore then now you can watch the Blu-rays that you may have in your collection.
For the purposes of this review I checked out the BenQ W2700 by plugging in an Amazon Fire Stick with 4K Ultra HD, it’s a lot easier for me to do that unplugging all the Blu-ray system to test it out, but I’m sure at some point it will be getting plugged it to watch those 3D Blu-rays on the biggest wall I can find in the house or garden (during the summer).
How does the BenQ W2700 perform?
Lets start that the size of the BenQ W2700 makes in an unobtrusive bit of kit that is ideal for the smallest of rooms to have a projector, it’s build is also sturdy and well made.
When it comes to the picture quality the projector certainly brings the cinema to your home and with many cinemas closing due to the Coronavirus Pandemic this is perfect for us film fans to project a rather large screen on your wall or pull up projector screen.
This HDR projector is certainly a piece of kit that will have you moving away from your small TV and taking the BenQ W2700 into the garden on a summer’s evening and watching films, TV shows or even playing games on with your family and friends (when it’s safe to do so).
