Fantastic news for fans of the record-breaking movie as this week Barbie makes a Number 1 debut on the Official Film Chart with a huge first-week sales haul.

Racking up 94,600 sales on digital downloads only this week, the headline-grabbing, Greta Gerwig-directed and Margot Robbie-starring blockbuster earns the third biggest Official Film Chart debut of 2023 so far, following Avatar: The Way of Water and John Wick: Chapter 4.

Barbie’s success comes following a strong summer for the Barbie movie as a whole on the UK charts, with two of its soundtrack singles (Dua Lipa’s Dance the Night and Billie Eilish’s What Was I Made For?) topping the Official Singles Chart, and the album itself spending eight weeks at the top of the Official Compilations Chart.

Meanwhile, at Number 2 is our previous chart-topper, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, followed by the animated adventure Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which lifts four places to Number 3. 

Action-packed flicks Meg 2: The Trench (4) and Fast X (5) drop from last week but hold firm in the Top 5, while The Super Mario Brox. Movie (6) lifts two.

The Equaliser 2 rises three to Number 7 as it rebounds back up the Official Film Chart, pushing Disney and Pixar’s Elemental down to Number 8.

Rounding out the Top 10 this week are two former Number 1s, Jurassic World: Dominion, which bounces back up eight places (9) and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, rocketing 18 places (10).
