So the weekend saw another Proms on the Prom in Rhyl and thanks to the amazing organisers I was asked back to be the official blogger/reviewer of the day’s event, plus given all the access I could possibly wish for, which gave me the chance to work with some of the artists performing at the Rhyl Events Arena.
The show kicked off at around 12 midday with a superb performance from Piantel, pianist Annette Bryn Parri and Harpist Dylan Cernyw have performed as soloists on piano and harp for many years, as always their time on the stage was a wonderful act to listen to and watch, they always bring out the excitement of the afternoon ahead.
A new singing experience from the heart of Snowdonia, featuring the great young voices of Bedwyr Gwyn Parri (baritone), Emyr Wyn Gibson (tenor) and Steffan Lloyd Owen (bass-baritone). TRIO’s roots are deep in a culture of music and song, a culture where singing is the natural mode of enjoyment, and where singing in harmony is second nature and boy did they sing, these guys certainly now how to have the audience’s attention, which they had during Proms on the Prom.
The world-renowned Siren, an electric string quartet are four award-winning music conservatoire graduates have joined their classical talents, creative ideas and love of performing to develop a uniquely entertaining stage show a class above the rest, these girls certainly put on one heck of a performance and what an amazing sound they produced.
Recently appeared on The Voice UK , Anneleis ticks every box required to be a classical crossover star, she has just signed to a record label. She has performed alongside Charlotte Church and shared the stage with Hayley Westenra, Jonathan Ansell and Faryl Smith. Anneleis’ vocals were outstanding during her visit to Proms on the Prom and the crowd absolutely loved her performance, as did I.
The Mariachis are the fun-loving guys regularly seen on TV screens across the UK.  The band all hail from South America. Consisting of guitars, accordion and trumpets, all the band members are highly accomplished musicians and singers. The Mariachis performed many pop hits along with traditional Mariachi repertoire including songs like La Bamba,  Guantanamera and Lambada. What a difference from all the other acts and what a stage presence, I still had the urge for a bag of Doritos during their time on the stage though.
Karl Loxley took to the Rhyl Arena Stage. Most recently Karl made Sir Tom Jones’ final 8 out of a staggering 48,000 people who auditioned on this year’s series of The Voice UK. Karl has an amazing voice, his performance at Rhyl certainly went down well and one a really nice guy, I caught up with Karl back stage for a quick chat about the show and other things. An interview is on the cards at some point.
Tenors of Rock Showed Rhyl how to ROCK!
I’d been tweeting with the guys, who were the headline act for Proms on the Prom, for a little while organising a meet up with them and before they went on to the stage, we finally got each other during the day through the haze of bad mobile signals, so managed to grab them so we could all have a rather informal chat about the show, which in true Blazing Minds fashion was as nuts, so we should have that up soon after some editing, I also organised a rather special, exclusive to Blazing Minds, photograph opportunity, which turned out amazing.
Tenors of Rock took to the stage and absolutely blew Rhyl away with their performance, the crowd went nuts, their performance was outstanding, the sheer power that the guys have and put across live is amazing.
I had only heard them on Youtube, so to be backstage and see them live was one heck of an experience, it was great that I was able to get some shots of them performing to Rhyl, even better was the exclusive shot I got of them when they had finished, a shot of the looking to the back of the stage with the fans screaming behind them. If you get the chance to see these guys then go see them.
So there came an end to another Proms on the Prom for Rhyl, although the rain did come in towards the end of the afternoon, it was a great show, sadly not as busy as last years event, which saw a very packed Rhyl Events Arena, but this could have been to the weather forecast that dampened people spirits for a Sunday afternoon out.
