After two days at the Wales Comic Con 2016 Part 2, the Sunday evening was going to rock as I was asked to do some photography for the aftershow which featured Thomas Nicholas and Straight Jacket Legends.
It had been 4 years since that last time that I was with all the guys together, the first time was at my first Wales Comic Con and the aftershow at Central Station and that’s when Thom also took over my Twitter account for the day. This time the aftershow was at The Centenary Club that is situated behind Wrexham stadium, a stone’s throw from the Comic Con.
So after grabbing a bite to eat, it was time to get on over to the club to check out the lighting and run of the place for some photographs, the doors opened at 7:30pm so I got there at 6pm, caught up with Dan and the rest of Straight Jacket Legends, chatted with Thom for a while and then sorted out the places to shoot the photos during the evening’s entertainment.
Thomas Nicholas and Straight Jacket Legends Soundcheck
After the soundcheck was completed it was time to grab a drink and relax before the show started, it was also time to check on how my buddies over at Canned Media were doing and what time they would be arriving for what would be an amazing night of music and fun.
The evening’s music kicked off with the brilliant Straight Jacket Legends, a band which those of you who are regulars to Blazing Minds will know from the work that I’ve done with them, including working on their music video produced by Canned Media. The guys certainly brought the house down, performing tracks from their Lemon Party and from their latest release Go Bananas.
You can certainly be sure that when the guys put on a performance you know that the evening is going to have everyone up on their feet and this one was no exception, as they put on yet another stellar performance.
As Jake was a little under the weather Mike took over from him for the evening and he also rocked it with the band, what a great night, but there was so much more to come.
Mixing it up at the Wales Comic Con Aftershow
What’s great about these events is you get to catch up with old friends and make new ones and this gig was no exception, I had the chance to have a good chat with Corin Nemec (Stargate SG-1), whom I had met earlier in the evening, it was nice to be able to chat about lots of stuff like we’d known each other for a while. The evening also gave me the chance to hang out with my Canned Media buddies.

You see the other side of the guests during the aftershow events, they seem more relaxed after the two days of hundreds of fans greeting them at the Comic-Con, but it’s a great feeling when we’re all sitting around in the VIP area chatting away.
Thomas Nicholas and Straight Jacket Legends ROCK
It was time for Thom and Straight Jacket Legends to head to the stage area and this was something that I’d been really looking forward to, I couldn’t believe it had been four years since the guys had been together in Wrexham and that was the first time that I met them and became good friends.
As the guys took to the stage I headed down to get them some photographs done of the evenings and I got a good few of the evening, so many in fact that there are far too many to place here on the website.
The floor was packed with people dancing, singing and taking photos and videos on their mobile phones, it was pretty hard not to get in people’s ways while I was doing the photos for the guys.
I have to say a massive thank you to Thom and Straight Jacket Legends for asking me to do some photos of them during the gig, it’s always a pleasure to work with them at gigs and on other projects, overall it was an amazing evening, heck it was an amazing weekend.
Big thanks to Jaime Milner for organising yet another great weekend and for having Blazing Minds at the event, also thanks to my good friends Thomas Nicholas, Straight Jacket Legends, Royd Tolkien, Corin Nemec, Justin Lee Collins and Andy Fairhurst for being awesome.
So until next time cheers everyone.
