The Hitman’s Bodyguard
The hitman comedy stars Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool, The Voices) and Samuel L. Jackson (Django Unchained, Captain America: The Winter Soldier) that sees Reynolds as the world’s top protection agent that has lost his “Triple A rating” being called in to guard the life of his mortal enemy, Jackson, who happen’s to be the world’s most notorious hit man. Bryce (Ryan Reynolds) has one job to do and that’s to get Darius Kincaid (Samuel L. Jackson) from England to the Hague while fighting to keep Kincaid alive!
The Hitman’s Bodyguard is an all-out action laugh fest, right from the very start of the film I knew that I would be trying to stifle my uncontrollably laughing throughout the movie. Reynolds and Jackson are perfectly suited together in the film, their banter between each other are priceless, with Reynolds somewhat calm and sophisticated way of doing his job with everything times to perfection and Jackson being the complete opposite with his foul-mouth and shoot first, kick ass, and ask questions later attitude.
Wonder Woman
With Marvel already dominating the superhero movie market, Wonder Woman steps up to the plate and knocks it out the park in DC’s new movie that takes us further towards The Justice League.
So a few years ago we had Man of Steel, which had mixed reviews and was a movie that had an extremely long and all out good vs evil battle with Superman vs General Zod over Metropolis!
Then came Batman V Superman, a movie that I personally was hoping would be a version of my favourite Batman comic book, The Dark Knight Returns, sadly this was not to be and although the extended cut is a better version the film was another in the DCEU (DC Extended Universe) that had mixed reviews and a rather long good vs evil battle, it did introduce us to Wonder Woman.
Following on was the next in the franchise, Suicide Squad, again this was another movie that didn’t really go down well with movie fans, which also had a good vs evil fight at the end (I see a pattern) it certainly looked like DC had hit three strikes! So all hope rested on Wonder Woman.
Kong: Skull Island
Kong: Skull Island tells the story of a diverse team of scientists, soldiers and adventurers uniting to explore a mythical, uncharted island in the Pacific, as dangerous as it is beautiful. Cut off from everything they know, the team ventures into the domain of the mighty Kong, igniting the ultimate battle between man and nature. As their mission of discovery becomes one of survival, they must fight to escape a primal Eden in which humanity does not belong.
As the film started the 3D effects were used to good effect as we are brought the usually logos etc of the companies involved, then we are brought to Skull Island in 1943! Now I was expecting modern day, so I was a little surprised. But this was only the start, shortly after our introduction to Kong we are in the 70s and this when the film is set, a brilliant excuse for a brilliant soundtrack with a great selection of tracks that give the film a good vibe.
Transformers: The Last Knight
It was a trip over to Cineworld IMAX in Broughton for a screening of Transformers The Last Knight in 3D and while we were there we caught up with Transformers Car Hire who told us a little about Bumblebee and Barricade that were visiting the cinema.
This is the fifth movie in the series and I had to see the film in IMAX as it had been filmed with IMAX cameras, so the huge screen would certainly be a film like this one, although I was little disappointed that Michael Bay hadn’t opted to go with any “frame-breaking” even though there were times that the screen ratio did change.
The LEGO Batman Movie
I have to admit that I’d been dying to see the LEGO Batman Movie since I first heard about it being made, you may have seen me mention it in my list of RealD 3D movies to see in 2017, so I headed over to Cineworld in Llandudno, donned my 3D glasses and sat back to enjoy the world of DC Comic in LEGO!
There was lots of excitement in the cinema, and that was from the adults before the film started, I’m not sure whether that was down to this being a movie with Lego in it or that it was down to being Batman, Lego Batman, a character that was very popular during the Lego Movie.
Overall, a fun movie, great for all ages and fans of Lego and DC, go on have a laugh and treat yourself to a night at the movies. The LEGO Batman Movie is out now on DVD and Blu-ray.
